Social Security Up-rating Order 2021

Each year, the Social Security Benefits Up-rating Order and Guaranteed Minimum Pensions Increase Order are brought before Parliament as a Statutory Instruments. The legislation ensures that UK state pensions continue to be up-rated annually, maintaining the Government’s commitment to the ‘triple lock’. However pensioners living in a number of overseas countries are excluded from these annual increases.

Several representatives from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Frozen British Pensions attended debates this week to raise this issue. Speakers included APPG Chair, Sir Roger Gale MP, alongside Wendy Chamberlain MP, Jim Shannon MP, Lord Dodds of Duncairn, and SNP Pensions Spokesperson, David Linden MP.
